Dr.    Booker   Wesley   Austin   Jr.    originates    from   Watts,    California where   his   father,   Rev.   Booker   Wesley   Austin,   Sr.   was   the   pastor   of Truth    Missionary    Baptist    Church    for    35    years.    Pastor    B    is    a    third generation   minister.   His   grandfather,   Rev. J. T. Austin was   the   pastor   of the historic Shiloh Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In   1979,   Pastor   B was   licensed   and   ordained   into   the   ministry   and in   the   spring   of   1980   enrolled   in   Southwestern   Theological   Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas in pursuit of a Master of Divinity Degree. His   other   educational   accomplishments   include   a   Bachelors   of Arts,   California   State   University,   Dominguez   Hills,   Carson   California, 1979;   Masters   of   Divinity,   Southwestern   Theological   Seminary,   Fort Worth,   Texas,   1984;   Masters   of   Religious   Education,   Southwestern Theological    Seminary,    Fort    Worth,    Texas,    1994    and    Doctorate    of Ministry,   Perkins   School   of   Theology/Southern   Methodist   University, Dallas, Texas, 1998. After   pastoring   churches   for   over   20   years,   in   2003,   God   gave Pastor   Austin   the   vision   to   establish   Cornerstone   Community   of   Faith.
He   believed   one   factor   in   this   new   endeavor   was   how   the   community   perceived   itself.   In   other   words,   a   new   church development   allowed   the   community   to   have   an   active   voice   in   ministering   to   relevant   concerns.   An   echoing   theme emphasized   daily   at   Cornerstone,      “Relevant   messages   for   Real   living.”   Cornerstone   Community   of   Faith   truly   believes when   a   community   is   healthy   so   is   the   culture.   It   was   Pastor   Austin’s   desire   to   identify   the   people   we   would   serve   and focus on the divine purpose God has for Cornerstone. Celebrating 38 years of marriage to Mrs. Myra Lynn Austin, they are proud parents to three children, and three wonderful grandchildren.  Whether it is marriage, his family, or pursing the vision and continued work God has for Cornerstone Ministries, Pastor B has always believed “With God all things are possible,” Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen…. Faith-Forsaking all I Trust Him… Faith-I put my Absolute Confidence in you God…
